TTF: AU 2025 Digital Sessions Round-up

Sep 18, 2025

September 18, 2025

This weekly email is my curated selection of interesting and useful topics related to BIM, design, and technology. I aim to provide you with some good information and a few laughs along the way. So, what did I find interesting this week? Read down to find out!

Well, Autodesk University is this week in Nashville, and while I couldn't make it in person this year (did you go? Hit reply and tell me about it!), I've been diving into the digital sessions that are now available online. The beauty of the digital pass is that we can all benefit from these presentations without the travel budget or post-conference party hangovers of years past.

I went through the digital catalog and picked out some sessions that caught my eye - a nice mix of AI integration, workflow automation, and that eternal question of how to get architects to care about data (spoiler alert: it's still complicated). Whether you're looking to automate your Rhino-to-Revit workflows or preparing for our AI-overlord future, there's something here for everyone.

Oh, and before we get started - I'm hosting a free Revit Add-in Workshop next week! If you've been curious about creating your own Revit tools but don't know where to start, this is your chance. We'll cover the basics and get you started on your add-in journey. Reserve your spot here.

Now, let's check out some highlights from the AU digital sessions!

#1: AI-Driven Revit Vibe Coding: Transformation BIM Workflow Customization

If you've been following me for the past six months, you know I'm a big fan of vibe coding. This session provides an in-depth look at another approach for combining AI with Revit automation.

#2: Effortless BIM Asset Management Using Content Catalog

Using "Effortless" and "BIM asset management" in the same sentence feels like a promise that is too good to be true, but I'm willing to be convinced.

#3: Enhancing Efficiency with AI: Breaking the Workflow Barrier

This session tackles how Autodesk Platform Services and connected data can finally break down those workflow barriers we've complained about for years.

#4: From Sketch to Specs: Seamless Rhino-to-Revit Workflow

For everyone who's ever tried to explain to a landscape architect why their beautiful Rhino model won't just "import nicely" into Revit, this one's for you.

Watch the session

#5: How Do You Get Architects to Care About Data?

The eternal question that keeps BIM managers up at night - this session attempts to crack the code on making data sexy enough for designers to care about.

#6: Research Reveals! A Design & Make Game Show

AU goes game show style - because if we're going to learn about design and manufacturing trends, we might as well have some fun with it.

Watch the session

#7: Make Your Workflow Flow with Rhino-to-Revit Automation

Another Rhino-to-Revit session because we're all still trying to solve this workflow puzzle (and yes, it's different from session #4!).

Watch the session

#8: Preparing for an AI-enabled Future

The session we all need but might be afraid to watch - what does our industry look like when AI stops being a buzzword and becomes our daily reality?

Don't Forget: Free Revit Add-in Workshop Next Week!

Speaking of preparing for the future, if you want to level up your Revit skills and create custom tools, join me for a free workshop where I'll show you how to get started with Revit add-in development. No prior programming experience required - bring your curiosity and maybe a strong cup of coffee.

Register for the free workshop here

That's all from me. Happy learning, and enjoy exploring these AU sessions!

TT5: Good Taste, Questionable Ideas
January 15, 2026 Happy New Year! I hope 2026 is off to a great start for you.   Over the holidays, I found myself at an arcade with my kids. While they ran off to the racing games, I gravitated toward the classic. Standing there pumping quarters into a vintage machine from 1981, a ridiculous thought popped into my head: What if I built something like this inside Revit? Normally, I'd laugh that ...
